At a glance: The area of decentralized electricity and heat generation is responsible for the operation of various facilities that are distributed in the city area and partially in the Munich region. The facilities include six geothermal plants, six heating plants, three district cooling plants, three CHP plants, and other facilities. These facilities are part of the heat transition, where SWM is a pioneer nationwide as the largest operator of geothermal plants.
